Wampanoags

Ms. Finn’s class in Savoonga just got done with a unit on the Wampanoag Indians and their final product was to do a presentation for Ms. Seymour’s kindergarten class. The class studied the Wampanoag Indians for two and a half weeks, learning their traditional skills and way of life. They then compared it with the traditional life of Siberian Yup’iks. The last thing to do was to bring in the kindergarten and show them what they had learned! The older students had a great time drumming and singing for the kindergarten students, showing the wetu shelter that they built, as well as demonstrating primitive firemaking and hide scraping.
